Feitelson, Eran

Eran Feitelson is a Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. A previous chair of the Department of Geography, he currently heads the Federmann School of Public Policy and Government at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He holds an MA in Geography and in Economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Ph.D from the Johns Hopkins University.  He has published extensively on environmental policy, environmental planning, transport and environment interfaces and water policy issues.  Much of his work in recent years focused on tranboundary water issues in the Israeli-Arab context.  His most recent work in the water field dealt with the political economy facets of groundwater management and the definitions of water needs.  In the planning field he has recently worked on the introduction of a communicative qualitative approach for alternative evaluation and on the politics of planning in the Israeli context.  He has published over seventy papers in refereed journals and edited volumes.  In addition to his academic work Eran Feitelson has participated in several national planning teams in Israel and has been a member of many national committees.  Since 1999 he has also been serving as chair of the Israeli Nature Reserves and National Parks Commission.
